After starting to experiment with hand-lettering, I came across an abandoned notepad of mine with calligraphy I had once been practicing. Within it, I had been writing, "practice makes perfect" over and over again. The composition of this piece was inspired by the found piece of calligraphy and my note-taking practices within my sketchbooks.

I enjoyed recreating the textured lettering style by mimicing chalk's aesthetic on black paper. I chose "Just Keep Practicing" as the quote because I know the piece is inherently flawed - and in many locations, I point it out. The message was a fun reminder to not be overly self-critical while i stumbled through teaching myself a new medium.
