This charcoal and conte drawing was completed in my Illustration Principles course and focused on copying and recapturing the essence of the original reference. The reference, a drawing of Rembrandt by Behzad Sohrabi, utilizes beautiful cross-hatching impossible to match stroke-for-stroke. Instead, I allowed myself to be more playful and bold with my mark-making and let the drawing become my own.
